The part about authorized picture. I dont really understand, does that mean NO pictures can be used except the authorized ones? [18:10] Haadi - We are going to be providing tons of pictures for use. Our biggest concerns are two-fold - 1, some pictures have been purchased by licensees for use in packaging and promotion and they want to retain the exclusivity for a period of time. The other is that if you use pictures from magazines and TV shows you may be violating someone's copyright.And although we might not be affected, they might be a big company and come after you. [18:12] WEBMASTER: Those pic you provide, may we edit them to fit in our lay out? [18:12] Lathander - I believe that editing but not altering will be okay. I will confirm. [18:14] == webmaster == The version of the guidelines I've seen doesn't say much about what we're allowed to do, and what we're not. It mostly talks about trademarks in domain names and emails. But I was expecting them to be more focused on what we would be allowed to do and what we wouldn't. Where's the limit for pictures, videoclips, sounds, and how about original material? [18:14] redPepper - There is a more extensive form, but again, we are not as concerned about limiting your creativity as we are in protecting trademarks and URL names. It is not going to be an onerous project. [18:14] Webmaster: So all fan sites will be exactly the same, Great!... [18:15] Mel - That is absolutely not true. Here are the key points. 1. No URL confusion with the official site and trademarked names. 2. We will provide you with extensive materials and images to use on your sites at your discretion. [18:15] Webmaster-okay. Thats good. But what if a site has vid and sound clips now? can they keep them as of right now as long as they are under a minute until some agreement or confirmation is reached? [18:16] Haadi - I will check. Again, we are not legally in control of the TV shows so you may be approached from someone else. As for video, I will certainly discuss it with the group. [18:18] Lathander, Pure, Red , Mel - Our goal is to work with you so that everyone can reach their objectives. Nobody is taking harsh or irrational action. We have sent the guidelines for your review. We are discussing specific sites with each of you. [18:18] webmaster - nobody at this time is arbitrarily shutting down sites. [18:19] Webmaster - how much do MK&A know about this guideline stuff? [18:19] CyberT - They are aware of it. [18:19] webmaster: I'll ask again :) So far only US Sites have recieved this letter. As a result, no European Sites have any idea what they need to do... have letters been sent out to International Sites such as mine, Lath's, Falc's?? [18:20] Darryl - I am not sure. I thought they received them also. [18:19] webmaster: are you aware that many of the guidelines presented in the letter are very unrealistic? We want to make sure that you have the proper permissions for the images you are using. 4. That is not to limit them but to make sure you have the proper permission. 5.
